Freeek -nyt fra George Michael

"Freeek -nyt fra George Michael" is a link I posted a few days ago. Tommy has translated the article for us!

Desperation amongst George Michael-fans (and we're quite a few) is rising. GM hasn't offered anything new since the end of 1999, and that was "only" Songs From The Last Century. "Only" in the sense, that it wasn't any new songs written by GM, but only covers.

But brothers and sisters, it's looking bright!

As we've written before, GM has made quite an unusual deal with Universal, which has been given the chance to show the singer, that they're capable of promoting his new single "Freeek!" to his satisfaction.

George Michael hasn't been satisfied with his previous record-companies. He didn't feel they would be exposing his talents in the right way.

Now Universal has been given the chance, and if it's done well, they will be given the opportunity to release his next album, which is expected in the late summer.

Freeek! is momentarily being played on radios across the country. Also Jubii Hit Radio is playing the song - every second hour from February 5th.

Tune in, turn on, drop out!

Jubii Musik has had the opportunity to listen to it in advance (over the phone), and boy, you better be ready. Freeek! is George Michael at his best and most funky. A very consistent, kind of monotone rhythm with a vocal that reminds me of for example 'I Want Your Sex' is what Freeek! is all about.

The song could have been by Michael Jackson, and it's funky rhythm isn't at all surprising, since our friend George Michael has been working with our French darlings Daft Punk.

Freeek's commercial release date is March 18th.

By the way, GM-fans should look forward to the new video, which cost about 20 million danish kroners (£2m).

In the video George Michael is dressed in a dentist-outfit and is surrounded by 100 dancers.

We hardly can wait!

NOTE: This was written by Danish music-journalist Dan Rachlin. Obviously this was all before the radio-release of Freeek!. Mr. Rachlin has been a long-time fan of GM, and should deserve credit for his effort to promote GM in every way possible.
