DiGiCo D5 Makes George Michael's Live Broadcast Straightforward

DiGiCo D5 Makes George Michael's Live Broadcast Straightforward:

When George Michael made a triumphant return to the world’s arena stages in 2006, little did audiences know that an even bigger event was just around the corner.

Using no less than four DiGiCo consoles, Michael performed the very first gigs at the new Wembley Stadium on 9th/10th June 2007, in the process ushering in a brand new (and long awaited) era for live music in the UK capital’s most infamous and controversial venue.

Court Sends George Michael to Sing Sing

Court Sends George Michael to Sing Sing:

IN the words of one of his hits, the guilty feet of pop icon George Michael had lost no rhythm when he led hostel residents in a round of music-making as part of a community service order on Thursday.

The Highgate-based singer spent eight hours with residents of St Mungo’s homeless hostel in Euston, collaborating on a series of songs about poverty, crime and homelessness prompted by their experiences in Camden.

George Michael to Take Lennon’s Piano on "Tragedy Tour" of Britain

George Michael to Take Lennon’s Piano on "Tragedy Tour" of Britain:

JOHN LENNON did his bit for world peace by penning antiwar ballads and indulging in public “bed-ins” with Yoko Ono.

Now George Michael has drawn inspiration from the late Beatle and plans to take the piano on which Lennon wrote Imagine on a “tragedy tour” of Britain to protest against violence.

The pop singer wants to send out a symbolic message of love and harmony by placing the piano close to the four sites in London where the 7/7 suicide bombers struck two years ago.

The Steinway upright could also appear at the spot in Eltham, southeast London, where Stephen Lawrence, the black teenager, was murdered by racists, and in the Admiral Duncan pub in Soho, central London, where a nail bomb exploded in a fatal homophobic attack in 1999.

Wham! Fan Fined for Torturing Neighbours with Song:

A BRITISH Wham! fan has been fined for torturing his neighbours with Last Christmas at full blast for an entire night.

Brian Turner, of Sandyford, Newcastle upon Tyne, repeatedly played the festive favourite at full volume one night in May this year.

Music Stars Doing Commercials

Music Stars Doing Commercials:

On the other hand, George Michael shone in a commercial for diet Coca Cola. At the time, he was still quite a babe and looked like a mean street cat and yet, for some unfathomable reason, he decided to advertise a low calorie beverage!? Maybe he needed a lifetime supply of diet Coke because he was afraid of putting on weight? The short commercial features his song "Crazyman Dance," the b-side of the single "Too Funky," but sadly, the sum of the cash injection he was paid to appear in those 30 or so seconds of public diet Coke adulation remains a mystery.

George Michael Begins Community Service

George Michael Begins Community Service:

George Michael began his 100 hour community service duty yesterday (August 13th) after his conviction in May for driving whilst unfit.

Michael said yesterday: "I'm just like everyone else. If you do something stupid, you have to pay the price. I've been doing some gardening and really enjoyed it.

"I'll do whatever they want me to do. I don't want any special treatment."

You just gotta love some of these titles:

Eli Stone

Visions of George Michael:

How's this for high concept: Ruthless corporate attorney turns good guy after seeing visions of '80s pop star George Michael. That's the premise for "Eli Stone," an ABC dramedy starring Jonny Lee Miller.

Stone's corporate law firm has a "screw the little guy" motto. And Miller's Stone is among the firm's best sharks, until he has flashbacks and hallucinations, including Michael as a holy intercessor. As the visions persist, Stone learns he has an inoperable brain aneurysm and begins redefining his career. "It's quite funny, but it does tackle some real social issues," says Miller, best known for 1996's "Trainspotting."

Co-producer Marc Guggenheim says Michael "really responded to the concept. He's a real television aficionado. And his songs reflect the themes of the show."

The pop superstar will tweak the conscience of the actor's ruthless attorney-turned-good guy in new show Eli Stone.

Michael will appear in dream sequences, aimed at inspiring Miller's character to do good deeds, in the show.

A spokesman for the show, which will debut in America later this year, says, "George really responded to the concept... and his songs reflect the themes of the show."

Let's Go Outside:

Concert-going Ulster smokers are fuming about the province's largest indoor venue as it's literally leaving them out in the cold!

Imagining Lennon’s Brotherhood of Man

Imagining Lennon’s Brotherhood of Man:

There are so many items in each edition of the The Wall Street Journal that it’s usually the trademark sketches that catch my eye and determine what actually make me read a story to its end.

This week John Lennon made me look twice. What’s he doing on the front page of the purportedly conservative newspaper?

John Lennon's "Imagine" Piano is Unveiled for Display at Northpark Center

John Lennon's "Imagine" Piano is Unveiled for Display at Northpark Center:

George Michael (who bought the piano in 2000 for $2.1 million) and Kenny Goss have decided to send the piano on a Piano Peace Project tour, where the piano will be photographed in cities across the U.S. and the world where horrific acts of violence have taken place. It's kind of like when you steal a gnome from your parent's garden and take it on vacation with you, and then send them pictures of the gnome in front of national monuments.

The nutmeg-colored Steinway upright, believed to have been in Mr. Lennon's country home in Ascot, England, is crisscrossing the country to show up at some of the nation's most horrific sites of violence, death and destruction.
