George Michael spoke on Radio 2 about why he decided to record “True Faith” and donate all money to Comic Relief.
“In the truly dark periods I’ve been through, I truly appreciate comedy. It keeps you alive.
“My God, some days the only thing that was good about the day was a good episode of something. So I tend to be very drawn to comedians. I think maybe because they’re the only people who put themselves out there more. I’d say singing is the second bravest thing you can do on stage. Being a comedian ranks as number one.”
George Michael on Radio 2, answering why he decided to release “True Faith” for charity
George Michael released “True Faith,” (Amazon Ad) which was a hit for New Order in 1987. He will be donating all money to Comic Relief.
The single will be available for download on March 13 and in stores on March 14. The single is available for pre-order on Amazon U.S. and Amazon U.K.
George is quoted as saying the following in his interview with Chris Evans, which will air on Monday:
“I was assured I wasn’t going to prison but I thought I was, and it was much easier to take because I felt it was deserved,” he said, in an interview to be broadcast Monday.
“This was a hugely shameful thing to have done repeatedly so karmically I felt like I had a bill to pay. I went to prison, I paid my bill.
“Remarkably enough — I know people must think it was a really horrific experience — it’s so much easier to take any form of punishment if you believe you actually deserve it, and I did.”
