George Michael’s Faith Tour Concert Film Secures Worldwide Distribution Through Universal and Bleecker Street

Nearly four decades after George Michael’s Faith Tour defined an era of pop performance, his landmark 1988 concert is poised for a global cinematic revival. The newly restored film, George Michael: The Faith Tour, has been acquired for worldwide distribution through a major partnership between Universal Pictures Content Group and Bleecker Street’s Crosswalk division, signaling one of the most ambitious music‑film releases of 2026.

A Global Partnership Built on Legacy

Under the deal, Universal Pictures Content Group will oversee international distribution, while Bleecker Street handles North American theatrical release through its event‑cinema arm, Crosswalk.

Executives from both companies describe the project as a milestone in music‑film distribution. According to Variety, Helen Parker, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Universal Pictures Content Group, called George’s performance “a magnetic force of charisma and connection with the audience.” Kent Sanderson, CEO of Bleecker Street, emphasized that the Faith Tour represents George “at the height of his creative and cultural power.”

Restoration Meets Modern Exhibition

The concert film, originally captured on 35mm film with 14 cameras, has undergone a meticulous restoration led by George Michael Entertainment, Mercury Studios, and Globe Originals. The remastering process revives the original cinematic texture while adapting it for premium theatrical formats, including IMAX early‑access screenings in select cities.

Opening with “Finding Faith”

The film begins with Finding Faith, a short directed by Mary McCartney, featuring unheard interview audio, unseen Herb Ritts photography, and behind‑the‑scenes footage from the Faith music video. This prelude sets the emotional tone for the concert experience, grounding the film in George’s voice and creative vision.

A Coordinated Global Rollout

The worldwide release will coincide with the launch of “The Faith Tour” live album, produced by Sony Music Entertainment and George Michael Entertainment. The album features 18 remastered tracks from George’s solo and Wham! catalog, creating a unified campaign across film, music, and digital platforms.

Preserving a Cultural Icon

For longtime fans, the film is a long‑awaited restoration of one of George Michael’s most defining live moments. For new audiences, it’s an introduction to an artist whose influence continues to shape pop, soul, and performance art worldwide.

George Michael’s Faith “Rockers Revenge BSA” Leather Jacket Auction

George Michael’s Faith “Rockers Revenge” leather jacket

The iconic Rockers Revenge leather jacket from George Michael’s Faith video is up for auction. It will be auctioned off on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 3 p.m. (BST) / 10 a.m. (EDT) / 7 a.m. (PDT).

The starting bid will be £30,000, and it is estimated to be sold for £60,000 – £120,000.

According to the auction site:

Photo-matching confirms the jacket’s use both in the “Faith” music video and during live performances on the accompanying tour. Some shapes and wear patterns on the red “BSA” logo, small holes on the painted leaf detailing, and placement of studs on the reverse correspond to an image from the “Faith” video shoot, taken by Chris Cuffaro. Subsequent paint loss on the red lettering – now visible on the jacket today as larger worn areas – can be matched to a later Cuffaro photograph showing Michael mid-performance during the tour. Creasing on the lapel and distinctive traits in the leather near one of the chest zips align with additional Cuffaro images from the shoot, as well as a photograph taken by Michael Putland of Michael backstage during the Japanese/Australasian leg of the tour in February-March 1988. Two of Cuffaro’s prints showing this jacket are also included in this sale (see Lot 127).

Propstore Auction

Also, George Michael’s Faith leather jacket is the featured image on the cover of the auction catalog, available for £30.

New George Michael Instagram Account: The Faith Tour

George Michael’s Faith CD – 2026 release (#ad)

It looks like we may be getting more than just the reissue of George Michael’s Faith on vinyl and CD in 2026.

The George Michael Estate has started a new Instagram account for George Michael’s Faith Tour this week.

The account is described as:

George Michael: The Faith Tour
100 shows. 2.5 million fans. 5 continents. 9 months. 150,000 miles.

The account is https://www.instagram.com/thefaithtour/

I am not currently seeing any Faith Tour accounts for other social media, such as Facebook or X.

Since the anniversary of Faith’s release was in November of 1987 in the U.S., it seems an interesting choice to release the vinyl and CD 39 years after the release date instead of in 2027 for the 40th anniversary.

Another interesting choice is the creation of this new Instagram account for the Faith tour. Is this just the start of a celebration for the 40th anniversary of George Michael’s chart-busting, #1 Faith album?

The Faith tour account seems to be posting 2 posts a day and also appears to be posting from the first dates of the Faith tour in Japan in 1987.

I remember watching some of these videos from MTV when the Faith Tour first started in Japan. What do you remember about the Faith Tour?
